Could someone help me edit this by editing the grammar/sentence structure.?

One day on a dark cold morning amidst the shadows there was a spear, this wasn't just any spear. It was one which could elapse time so quick that it seemed it only was a second. I knew that by obtaining this spear I could become a powerful person and control time. So I saw a wooden ladder and started climbing it. As I reached the top, I saw the spear and tried grabbing it but it was to high up and I couldn't reach it. As I reached for the spear, a dark creature appeared and tried to kill me. It chased me down but I ran as a quick as a fox and I jump and made it unto another platform. It appeared again. It than jumped and as I saw it jumping, I pulled out my sword and when it tried attacking me I cut it into pieces. I then took the spear and elaspsed time.
