North in a peaceful e-mail?

My mom once sent an e-mail to my aunt ( those things with "a prayer for you" no harm...) My aunt sent back that she doesn't can't handle mails that require it to be sent to more than 1 other person. My mom sent back that she shouldn't be superstitious (I left out context). My aunt answered: "North" What does "north" mean?
